The Clinical Decisions Unit is a key clinical driver to relieve pressure on the Emergency Department, Short Stay Unit, and Assessment and Planning Unit, all of which face increasing demands on their already stretched services. Its design emphasises Point of Care (POC) patient treatment through the maximisation of natural light from the atrium, a calming biophilic environment, good acoustics and noise control, and by supporting the needs of elderly and disabled patients.
Auckland-based architectural firm Klein, who pride themselves on delivering wellness-focused solutions, chose Atdec’s AWM display mounting system to compliment the design of the new hospital unit.

Challenge
- Auckland Hospital required a space-saving mounting solution for monitors at the reception desks
- Stringent cleaning requirements for IT related equipment
- The mounts had to blend in with the Decisions Unit’s white interior
- Multi-user environment with various monitor height and position requirements
- Easy-to-access, above-desk power
Solution
- A combination of dynamic (AWM-AD) and articulated arms (AWM-A46 a) were mounted on a 400mm post
- Cables were managed neatly through monitor arm channels and posts
- White was chosen to complement the space’s overall design
- The modular nature of the mounting system provides flexibility for future upgrades/re-arrangement
- Atdec Inteligent Power Module was integrated at the base of the posts providing easy access to the fast charging USB ports as well as 2 x standard GPO outlets
